For teachers/administrators: URL questions (accessing wordshark online)

Where can I find my school URL address?

The URL address for your staff and students to access Wordshark Online will be unique for your school, ensuring that your school’s data is safe and secure.

When the school first signs up to use Wordshark, the URL is EMAILED to the assigned Wordshark Online Administrator at your school. The URL will always look like this: https://onwordshark.com/? The last part of the URL is normally a shortened part of your school name. Usually, schools set up the URL as a shortcut on the school computers/devices for easy access.

If you have any questions about your school URL, contact the person who is the ‘Wordshark Administrator’ in your school or email us at online@wordshark.co.uk

URL problems

  1. Using the address bar: make sure you put the URL into the address bar (at the top of your screen), (and not the ‘search’ box, usually in the middle of your screen); using the address bar will give you the exact correct Wordshark Online web page, whereas using the ‘Search’ box will give you many options, and you may not know which one to select.
  2. Whitelisting: It’s possible that security settings/restrictions may have been set up within the school that are blocking Wordshark Online i.e. firewall (antivirus) trying to protect the school from viruses and potentially inappropriate content on the web. The IT support within the school, or external IT support will normally know what these restrictions are and be able to address them to 'whitelist' Wordshark and allow students and staff to access Wordshark: please whitelist https://onwordshark.com  PLUS we recommend whitelisting this"Help" site to allow users access to our service status, help documents and videos: https://wolhelp.wordshark.co.uk/portal/kb  This "Help" site can be accessed directly or from within the program by clicking on the "?" help icon.
