Choosing how to use Wordshark


Default student journey:

Students are given login details by the teacher/administrator/tutor

Placement test:

(the default)

Students log in for the 1st time and each take the  ‘Shark Challenge’ 

Automatic progression:

(the default)

Wordshark places each student at the right starting point in ‘Supershark’ 


The placement test is the default, but sometimes you may wish to
override this and/or the automatic progression starting point. Click here to see how to do this.

Students viewing words they are working on:

Whichever way you choose to use Wordshark, students should be encouraged to open-up the list they are working on (click on the yellow 'My Play Words' banner - see image below), to check out the words and explore the phonics – and syllables, if relevant. (see the 'ON' / 'OFF' buttons at the bottom of the pop-up) When the student clicks on each word, it is read aloud. Whenever possible, a picture comes up too.
