You as parent and administrator
You as parent will have access to all games and lists to see what Wordshark can offer.
Log in details
Add your child to the system under Groups & Users. This is important as Wordshark will log their progress - and remember where they were working when they log in each time. You need to give them their log in details – find this under Groups & Users
Shark challenge
When your child first logs in they will be given Shark Challenge (needing headphones or speaker). This short test will place them into the
Wordshark course (
open pdf here). This automatic progression feature is called Supershark and will move them to a new list each time when they get 85%-100% correct in any of the 3 spelling check games on offer.
Free access for your child
If you want your child to have Free access like you (Free Play) - to one or more of the courses in addition to, or instead of working in Supershark, you can grant this. Go to Groups & Users > Manage Groups. Select your group name and open up the arrow. Slide the Free Play slider over. Depending on your child’s age, they might then need guidance over which course and which spellings to work on once you have granted this access.
Your child’s own lists
There is a facility for your child, when they are logged in, to create their own lists. Own lists is in their main menu. Make sure the spellings are correct! They can if they wish record their own voice for the words which is fun, easy and helps their motivation.
Working together
Maybe, your child would like to show you their favourite games
Other modes of use
There is also a facility to set work (less likely at the beginning)
There is also a facility to add your own lists (less likely if you help your child to create their own lists).
